On Sunday we went to Bjärred, along the shore, where Bryant and L built a camp fire and roasted marshmallows while I hiked the trail out to Löddeåns Mynning nature reserve with a bird sanctuary and viewing tower, open in winter months. We haven’t been getting out as much lately so it felt good.

A bonus meeting of cooking club featured Indian food with Deepa, a chef who taught us her favorite go-to dishes that are easy for beginners. She’s in the process of moving to Barcelona (thus last chance to cook with Deepa before her move) where she’s opening her own Scandinavian inspired cafe. Can’t wait to visit her!

The snow finally melted away (very little shoveling or plowing was done) but it was a nice change while it lasted. It was tough for the bicycles and general commuting, but I think most people enjoyed a few weeks of winter weather.

Den Franska Förbindelsen- The French Connection

Some of the French women in my social group were invited to meet the King during President Macron’s state visit to Sweden. https://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/76W5oW/macron-pa-studentafton-i-lund-aftonbladet-pa-plats
Anita went to dinner at the palace in Stockholm and after the 5 course affair, she and her husband were introduced to King Carl Gustav, Queen Sylvia along with Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, Sweden’s PM and more Royals as well. The 200 guests then were required to mingle across the room until the king finally declared it time to leave. She said the experience was not not as intimidating as she initially feared it would be and found it all very interesting.

The next day, the Presidential/ Royal Entourage came to Lund, toured ESS and met with students at the University. I strolled around several times during the anticipated time of the event which another of the French friends was invited to attend. Veronique hasn’t told me about it yet, but I heard that the guests of honor were more than an hour late. French and Swedish flags proliferated in Lund for the day, and security was visible all around Lundagård.

The co-op has local eggs available again, along with saffron, mushrooms and all the usual produce. Choir rehearsals have also resumed, giving me the extra motivation I need to leave the house in the evening once in a while. Gösta, our director, has a nice repertoire selected for this semester and is busy planning a summer music camp for us near Uppsala.
Interesting view of the North Church behind Kulturskolan.

This week’s city walk was a tour of some of the art galleries in Lund, led by Ghada, who teaches art classes. It was great to finally visit some of these gems. In spite of the rain it we had a huge crowd of art enthusiasts.
