  • Voting!

We are all set up for absentee voting in MN. It is just too important to sit out. Here are our MN primary ballots heading off to be counted from Sweden!

  • Kayaking day

Staying at Två Skyttlar (two shuttles, named for the weaving this area is known for). Mark Municipality, the fabric kingdom. “The Mark” from the word for border between Denmark and Sweden. Bry and kids are out on lake vastra Öresjön, hoping to beat the afternoon rain showers, while I kick back to enjoy the view…

  • Coins

Finally changed the 100 kronor. Here’s some more Swedish currency. This one features Evert Taube, poet and musician. And the all important 5 and 10 kronor coins! Bryant is still working so we continue our low-key exploration of Hyllie and other areas of Malmö. Here is the edge of the developed area, where the parks…

  • Construction

Looks like they’ll finish our road and courtyard around the time that we move! This is our building entrance and our bedroom windows. We left them open during work hours one day and found our beds and everything covered with a layer of grit- yuck! They’ve been working nonstop since we arrived, digging massive holes…

  • Minneapolis Expats

Today we met up with a nice couple who moved here from Minneapolis. They’ve been in Malmö since October so we had a great time comparing notes on local amenities and our experiences with relocating. They are tons of fun and a great resource! They live near the Turning Torso. We walked through Stor Torget,…

  • Decaf- pffft

Bryant tried to order decaf coffee and the waiter scoffed at him. Eating dinner at gamlastad- old city Malmö. Such a beautiful evening. Not crowded. Had a train car to ourselves. Perfect way to avoid being in the background of Lily’s TCTC virtual classroom!

  • Wild flowers

I feel that my photos don’t quite capture the beauty of wild flowers growing right here in Hyllie, on the edge of the city. But here are some of the varieties that we see on every walk.

  • Sustainable City

Hyllie has a sustainable city museum/ education center. I bet it’s only open during the school year, because every time I walk by, it seems to be closed. Swedish workers are entitled to 4 consecutive weeks of paid vacation which must be taken in June, July, or August. So lots of things are closed in…

  • Limhamn

Lily, Bry, and I rode to a nearby community on the coast. It was paved trail all the way so pretty easy. Next time we’ll bring swim gear and enjoy the water. And here is the Øresund Bridge in the background. Denmark will open to our state (Skåne) on June 30, so maybe we’ll be…

  • Ulastigen

Part of this path had a children’s play area just right for a Jen-Jill break -and the rest of the Noices enjoyed it, too!
